Share your PC’s internet connection with Android via USB

After long time, I think after 3 or 4 months 😯  I gonna write again a technical post. This is how to connect you android to the internet through you PC’s internet connection. I was looking for this and used with few problems after being an owner of android. But today I was resolved all of them and feeding my droid without wasting money for 2G/3G.  😛

There’re lots of resources on the internet about this “Reverse Tethering” and there’re some fake and paid APKs which don’t helps. Especially, to the Sri Lankans! 😉 I have used all of these to endup the “Internet Thirsty” of my loving droid. But, every time I’ve to waste time and pay for Data or go under my school’s WiFi with some afraid.  😆

So that’s why I decided to write about this case perspicaciously.

For this, you would have to use a program for the PC which shares internet and pushing it to the android device through ADB. This’ll automatically installs an APK to your android device which teaches the droid to Reverse Tether. Your android device MUST BE ROOTED and your PC should have suitable drivers for your device.

Hope you know what is Tethering; but I think I must describe it to the new ones. Internet Tethering is used to share your android device’s Data connection to the PC. This is officially supported by android ROMs. Meanwhile, your phone becomes a internet dongle. But here,  💡  we’re going to do its vice versa.

Let’s do the Reverse Tether:

First, you should download and extract the archive of “AndroidTool” software from the following link.

Click here to Download Reverse Tethering Software for your PC
[Link Updated 17/09/2020 to the new version. (3.19) Explanations below could be differ.]

While downloading, you can prepare your android device as following:

Launch the SuperUser app on your device, open its menu, tap Preferences, and uncheck the Notifications check box under Notifications. Then you won’t bothered by the hundreds of Superuser permission requests  😉

Also to let the PC-tool install its APK, turn “Unknown sources” ON. (android: Settings -> Applications)

Enable Debug mode. (android: Settings -> Applications -> Development)

Turn Data connection (WiFi or 2/3/4..G) ON. [You may say WTF?! while hearing this. (LOL! 😀  I’ll tell you later why should you do so.)]    🙄

Update 02/01/14: Go to [Tools] Tab and Click [Install Hack] button. Then it can work WITHOUT A WORKING DATA CONNECTION as I explained for older version.

When the download has completed and extracted the archive you’ll see a executable named “AndroidTool.exe”, Just open it and click “Connect”

You can check “what’s going on?” without being an expert 🙂 with switching to “Debug” tab. You’ll see some blah blahs. The red text stands for errors. So you might have to restart your phone and/or PC-tool or PC till having a good answer. I had to do so with my poor Huawei u8180 and that’s why I told so. 😉  Don’t lost your hopes.

After few seconds you’ll see a request for SuperUser permissions on your phone. Just allow it believing me for this ‘USB Tunnel’ APK.  😀

Time for the “Viola!” will depend on your Android device’s and PC’s resources.

Now your droid buddy have internet through your PC. How cool is that?

New version of Reverse Tethering PC Software is feeding my Sony Xperia U.

The important part is, if you haven’t turned on the data connection in your Android device; some apps (such as Play Store, Google Talk) would say “You haven’t a internet connection”. And you won’t be abled to update apps etc. (Gotya?) 😀

Now feed anytime abundantly your droid..! Feel free to ask me (just leave a comment) anykind of problem/suggestion around this.  🙂
All credits to the creator of this app, I’m just making the way.
